We're nowhere near ready to switch to Perl 5.10 at work, even with the release of mod_perl to support it. I'd like to use smart matching all the time. Perltraining.au's put out an article about smart matching in its series of Perl tips that just makes me cry for what I can't use.
I wish I could use smart matching

Yeah, I'm waiting for Debian to have it ... so maybe sometime around 2010! ;)
I've been using 5.10 on my non-work projects now, and am slowly mixing in the new features to get a feel for them in real code. They're great! Now my biggest complaint is that I have to explicitly enable them in each and every friggin module. GAH!
(though smart matching is one of the features that don't need to be explicitly enabled, of course)
